Believe In Yourself

I received an email a week ago from the brother of two students I had a few years back. He wanted to meet with me to discuss his career options. I love helping people clarify their direction so I set up a meeting with him at a local Starbucks.

We met, shook hands and had a seat. I had lead a volleyball clinic his parents had attended in the ninety’s and taught both his brothers. He is the only one in the family I had never had the pleasure of working with. After a little, “How’s your family,” conversation I asked what he had been up to since high school. He shared how he had attended a culinary arts college in New York, learned Photoshop and video editing on his own and was now back in Culpeper figuring out what he was going to do next. During his sharing I realized he was a very religious person … something I had not anticipated.

I asked, “How can I help you?” He further explained how he wanted to find some way to combine all his talents to create a fulfilling life for himself. I asked him how he would like to spend his time if he had all the money, time and resources he would ever need. He replied that he wants to have a food truck that serves good food on locations. Ideally he would team up with a church and feed the needy as well as paying customers.

At this point I noticed I had become rather tense. I caught myself, mentally cleansed, and asked my inner guidance what was hitting me. My angels said three words: “Religious concepts, Reverend. ”

I quickly regrouped and realized that all this young man was doing was looking outside himself for acceptance. He had been taught that he could do whatever he wanted, but he needs to be sure he was serving God at the same time. I remembered that I am indeed a Reverend and I know how to work with religious energy.

Regrouped and relaxed, I asked him, “What is the first Commandment?” He thought a minute and said, “I know them, but I am not sure which is first.”
“Have no other gods before me,” I said.
I then asked him, “What did God tell Moses his name was on Mt. Sinai? ”
Again he looked thoughtful, but had no answer. “When Moses ask God his name, God said, ‘Tell the people, I am.’ So, what is God’s name?”
He replied, “I am.” We both smiled.

With that clear we could get somewhere and spirit began to flow. I shared with him that everything has a time and season (that is in the Bible as well) and that, in my opinion, if he really wanted to do some good in this world, he needs to first assure that he creates a successful life for himself so he could really do some good. That means that at this time, his focus is not on giving back, but rather on building a life where he is secure enough, financially and spiritually, to do greater good down the road, when the timing is right for him.

I shared with him “I am certain that God will very happy with you if you make your life work first before you invest time in others that could be spent building yourself a solid stone foundation. All you have is your time. If you make your life work successfully first, you will be setting a good example for everyone you attract. You can’t help anyone beyond what you have put together in your life. All you can do is share how you made your life work and leave people free to take from your wisdom what they need.”

My young friend is 20 years old, at the end of the Cycle of Identity. During his entire life no one had ever shared with him that our lives evolve in seven-year cycles and that there are lessons, unique lessons, in each cycle. What he needs to focus on now is discerning who he really is. In the next cycle, the Cycle of Maturity, he needs to focus on what he wants in life and start building it as though he is the only person on earth that matters. As I shared these things with him, I could see the lights going on.

No one knows what another person “should” do with his or her life. No one has your answers. And all the answers you need are right there inside you waiting to come out when your timing is right. You are unique in the universe, a unique expression of God. I can’t think of anything that would please God more than you taking the gifts you have and doing something with them. That would mean there was one less soul God had to worry about.

I was fortunate enough to have apprenticed under a truly great spiritual wayshower, Dr. Francisco Coll. He once shared that I could forget everything he had taught me; about my Angels, my past lives, my psychic abilities, healing. Throw it all away. If you would do just one little thing, you will live a richer life and be of service to more people than 99% of the world experiences. Believe in yourself!

Trust your ideas. Look to no one for approval. Follow your feelings and everything will work out very well for you. It is the self-doubt and procrastination that blows your timing and kills your creative power.

I talked with my friend for about 45 minutes about not being afraid to give his ideas a go, how to network with other creative people and I told him to feel free to contact me at anytime if he wanted to regroup and to let me know when he had that food truck so I could come get a good meal. We shook hands and parted for now.

On the drive home I regrouped with my guidance how important it is for me to accept people where they are, be humble, work from their state of consciousness and listen to my guidance when working with people. I also was very happy with myself for taking an opportunity to share with an older soul with a little less experience this lifetime. I bet you I will see him again and will be very proud of what he makes of his life. He already has his answers. He just needed a detached, truly concerned person to remind him of it.
